Crystal Mountain Snow Report & Review 12/30/2009
Posted on December 31, 2009 | 2 CommentsThe conditions at Crystal Mountain are great right now! Runs accessible by the North Face lift and the Ridge lift seemed to be less crowded, and the lines for these lifts were the shortest. -
Happy New Year
Posted on December 31, 2009 | No CommentsBlogging remote from a hotel in Cadillac, MI. Yesterday Chris & I did make it up to Crystal Mountain for a last minute snowboarding trip. After the 4-hour drive from Detroit, we were able to log about 6 hours on the slopes. -
Last Minute Snowboarding Trip, 2009
Posted on December 29, 2009 | No CommentsMy friend Chris is anxious to make it out to shred this season after he was sidelined last year with ankle- and shoulder-surgery from an old football injury. We are trying to make it up to Shanty Creek which is about 3.5 hours away from metro-Detroi -
Anon Figment Goggle Review
Posted on December 28, 2009 | No CommentsI had a sick pair of Anons that were brand new last year, until my dog ate the foam off of them towards the end of the season. Best of Mountain Creek Jumps (Video)
Posted on December 28, 2009 | No CommentsTruly amateur video (but pretty good production quality) from Mountain Creek ski area in New Jersey. These guys are definitely shredding the gnar. This is their "best of" video from the last few seasons, it's worth the 4 minutes you'll spend watching it. -
Burton Cartel Snowboard Bindings (Review)
Posted on December 27, 2009 | 1 CommentBottom line: Super comfortable, easy to strap up or adjust, the Burton Cartel is a great pair of bindings if they fit your riding profile, or if you have more than one board in your quiver and use something else on park days. If the Skyback II scares you, or if you don't spend as much time carving as I do, go with my second choice, the Burton Triads. They have a lower highback and are a little bit softer in flex. -
How to Get in Shape for Snowboarding
Posted on December 24, 2009 | No CommentsWhen I went snowboarding at Whistler a few years ago I was in terrible physical shape, on one of the gnarliest mountains in the world. Not a good combination. After that trip, I resolved to stay in better shape and the three holidays I've taken since (to Lake Tahoe, Jackson Hole, and Mont Tremblant) have been much more enjoyable. Hopefully you can learn something from my mistakes! -
Is It Worthwhile to Make Your Own Snowboarding Videos?
Posted on December 24, 2009 | 1 CommentAt Afterbang*, Gavin recently asked whether making your own snowboarding clips is worthwhile. Since I try to get a few good video clips every winter, I thought I'd echo my opinions/answers to his questions:
