  • It is supposed to be in the 70's here later this week. But I just heard that Boyne Mountain and Nubs Nob near Petoskey are still open; Boyne was able to make snow six nights out of seven last week, including a 12-hour marathon on Thursday. Both resorts intend to stay open until April 11.

  • Adding it all up, I got 23 days on the slopes: 4 in December, 5 in January, 9 or in February and 4 in March. Pretty good considering how short our winter has been with a late start, and here we are mid-March and the local hills have been closed for two weeks.

  • The local ski hills are keeping closed since it's been in the mid-50's (or higher) the last 7 days or so, with a little bit of rain to wreck the slopes, too. They're holding out hoping that they can open up for this coming weekend, but with rain in the forecast that's not promising.
