For the first time in its 30+ year history, the Burton US Open will be held in Vail Colorado next week. The rider list is a who’s who of contest snowboarding: Shaun White, I-Pod, Kelly Clark, Elena Hight, that 14-year old Japanese sensation Ayumu Hirano will be among the 100+ riders throwing down in Slopestyle and Haflpipe competition with Slopestyle finals on Friday and Halfpipe finals on Saturday.
For those who want to watch at home, the Open will be broadcast live, worldwide at http://www.burton.com/USO and also broadcast on Universal sports and NBC Sports, nationally. It will also be broadcast somewhat live and streaming by this guy.
Yep. Thanks to Nokia, I’ll be there taking in the scenery, stalking pros, slashing pow, and covering the event with a few other lucky internet-famous folk (all more famous than me, probably) as well as the two winners of the Nokia x Burton Creative Invite contest, Stefanie Suchy and Jack Tompkin. I’m looking forward to what should be an awesome opportunity to check out the USO live and in-person, as well as riding Vail for the first time.
