  • The added terrain is great; seems like every other time I go there they've got another new trail or two open. Their kids program is excellent which is why we've taken Jake there a few times. If you're looking to get shradical and hit huge jumps or spend all day in the park though, you're probably going to be disappointed

  • Hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving and if it wasn't filled with pow slashes then I hope there's snow in your local forecast pretty soon. In the meantime, get a load of this turd, courtesy of Burritos and Snow. As he said, anyone who drives a Porsche in to Big Cottonwood Canyon during a snowstorm deserves what's coming...

  • Previously I'd said that by 40, I'd like to get down to the southern hemi during their "winter" and ride pow in July. Also on my list of really expensive trips that I'm not taking any time soon is a trip to the French Alps. I think the seclusion and the allure of Alaska has the top spot though, so if it comes down to it and I can only ever do one of these trips, Tailgate Alaska gets priority.

  • By far the most promising forecasts come from the NOAA which is not predicting a "Super La Nina" event to persist until spring 2011. So, brace yourself for the worst (or, best) La Nina event in over 50 years! This could be the year that Mt. Baker (WA) gets hammered with 1,000 inches. It's happened before, only a matter of time before it happens again.

  • I convinced the wife to go to Colorado for a few days in early December — as a substitute for our normal up north trip. Today I booked our airfare on Southwest, and we'll have three nights in Summit County, probably Breckenridge-area.

  • Everywhere I look legit ski areas are innovating and giving their customers a better experience. So we here in Michigan can't compete with the new Gondola or the Stash Terrain Park at Jackson Hole, I get that but there's plenty of Michigan ski resorts that are investing in making better experiences for their customers.

  • Parts of Vermont have already gotten measurable snowfalls in October, although the ground hasn't frozen solid enough to keep any of it sticking around. This might shape up to be another great winter for Vermont, Quebec, New Hampshire, Maine and New York state.
