Is the Snowboarding Season Over?

Although I did fire up the barbecue last night to grill some burgers, the snowboard season isn’t “officially” over until I remove my board and kit from the back of my Jeep.

Part of me says, “Dude. It’s freaking 62 degrees. Has been for a week. Get a grip on reality!”

The other part of me is hoping against all odds that we get some dumpage. I’d even settle for one of those shitty April snowstorms that happens after all the resorts close for the season. Yep. I’ll settle for a Meijer parking lot shred session.  Just one more session for the season, but it’s not looking good, especially having tentatively canceled my plans to spend Easter weekend in Colorado (I say “tentatively” because I still really want to go).

The local ski hills are keeping closed since it’s been warmer and rainy.  They’re hoping they can open up for this coming weekend, but with rain in the forecast that’s not likely.  And even if it were, I’m going to be heading to England for work on Saturday, so that puts the kibosh on those hopes and dreams.  My last, best chance will probably be the following weekend if I can sneak my way up to one of the Northern Michigan resorts on or about March 27.

I suspect they will still be open, but I’ll need a wingman, because they’re about 4 hours away.  Tentatively, they stay open through Easter weekend, so in theory I have two more opportunities to get another day on the slopes.  We’ll probably get one of those crazy April snowstorms, after all the resorts have closed for the season, in which case I guess I could always shred some Meijer parking lot.

The first step is admitting that you have a problem…
