Map of All Michigan Ski Resorts

Longtime fan, friend and supporter Sam has created a comprehensive Google Maps directory of all the ski areas in Michigan, complete with stats like vertical feet and number of trails. I think this is all of the alpine rec areas in the state, but sound off in the comments if any were overlooked.

Mt Bohemia looks cuh-raaaazy. It’s a ten hour drive so unless I’m already up there I don’t see it happening…but still.

sucks about Otsego that is (was?) a really nice little hill. Bohemia is on the to-do list but it’s so facking far away I have not been able to justify it.

The only way I see it happening is if a bunch of guys charter a little plane to get up there and split the cost. Hell, I probably can’t ride half that mountain anyways, not the triple blacks and double blacks at least.

Mont Ripley is in Marquette and the Porkies are a few hours to the West.

actually I looked a few years ago there were flights out of Chicago for about $200.

The Porkies were the worst to try and get info on. The link on Bohemia’s site to “Ski the Porkies” redirects back to Mt Bohemia and the one link that I kept on the placemarker on the map goes to an awful regional site without much useful info.

weird. they used to have their own website even though they are/were affiliated with or owned by Bohemia. but basically it is in Ontonagon wilderness area/state park as far as I know. About 2 hours west of Houghton.

If I can get more info, I’m interested. The vert was decent, second highest in the state and it seems less hardcore than triple black Bohemia.

but both of them are in the middle of BFE…

Best lodging option if you’re not staying in the yurts would be to stay in Houghton, college town, cheap drinks, a modicum of “night life” even if it is the UP but your’e still looking at a very long commute each day to/fro these mountains…

for sure it’s dirt cheap up there the season passes are always $99 if you buy on the first Saturday in December and the yurts are cheap, it’s just the 10-12 hour drive from Detroit that’s a killer…

They were skeptical first time but say it is totally worth it and go back every year sometimes multiple times. I might give in and go this year.
