Michigan Ski Area Opening Dates – 2012/2013

Here’s the skinny on who’s already open and who’s opening this week, if you’re in Chicago-land or Ohio and you’re dying for a fix, get after it and head to Michigan.

Pine Knob (Tuesday 11/27) – Pine Knob just moments ago announced their opening at 3pm Tuesday. They have several new rail features but have not commented whether a terrain park area will be open on day 1.

Boyne Highlands (today, Tuesday 11/27) and Boyne Mountain (Friday, 11/30) – Highlands offered free lift tickets on their Tuesday opener, but expect to pay for your lift the rest of the season.

Mount Holly (Wednesday, 11/28) – The official unofficial statement from MTH this morning is that they will be open at 3pm on Wednesday, 11/28.

Alpine Valley (Wednesday, 11/28 or Thursday 11/29) – blowing snow and the piles look good…

Caberfae Peaks (Friday 11/30 1) – Opening Friday at 3pm for the evening, then day sessions on Saturday & Sunday. Expect two chairs and at least a half-dozen open trails.

Nub’s Nob (Friday 11/30) – Nub’s will have only three trails serviced by two chairs on Friday, but more trails will be added over the weekend. Closed Monday-Thursday and hopeful to resume operations on Friday December 7.

Indianhead Mountain (Friday 11/30) – Indianhead has been making snow and received nearly 2 feet of natural snow over the last week, opening Friday.

Mt Brighton (sometime by 12/1) – Brighton has made ridiculous predictions in the past, and although they’re claiming they could open as early as 11/27, I think a Friday or Saturday opener is more likely.
Other notables: As of press time this morning, the following ski areas have not made an official statement, but based on snowfall over the weekend & snowmaking weather, seem likely to open this weekend:
