NOTE: The Never Summer Legacy snowboard has gone through a few changes since the model I described. Notably, they have softened it up a bit so it should be more playful in the park (but still not a noodly park-specific board) and they are now using the Rocker+Camber profile instead of the traditional camber design. I have not ridden the updated versions but I’m sure they’re still awesome boards.
The Never Summer Legacy is a wider, stiffer version of the Neversummer SL snowboard. When I bought this one, it was hard to find “wide” specific snowboard probably because they weren’t able to keep undesirable torsional flex under control or because there just aren’t that many big dudes who want a good board.
I’ve been riding a Never Summer Legacy for about five years now — I broke it in on a powder day at The Canyons in Park City after an 8″ dump. It’s handled the nastiest, iciest steeps at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and rips up the hardpack garbage days here in Michigan with ease, mine is 163cm but still very responsive. It is quick edge-to-edge, and on edge it excels for carving pretty much everything except bulletproof ice.
The Legacy is mid-stiff like a 7/10, and on account of its extra width I really wouldn’t recommend it for park riding so if that’s what you’re after, go with a flexier board.
But, mine has sick Polar Bear graphics. I wish NS would incorporate more polar bears in their board designs.

Why did I buy it? With bigger feet you don’t have to ride a ridiculous duck stance you can go more traditional or even use a forward stance on a “wide” board.
I wear a size 11 boot which is just on the cusp of what most people recommend for a “wide” snowboard. I’m 6 feet tall, a shade over 200 pounds, so I’m about twice as big as your average 14-year old snowboarding waif. My height & weight alone required a longer board if I ever wanted to go fast again, and I was confident that I’d be able to control the extra 2cm width.
Who is this board for? You should be intermediate or advanced skill-level, all-mountain style is probably best.
Who is this board not for? Park rats. Beginners or intermediates uncomfortable with a fast board.
