Yesterday I broke down and bought some new snowboard boots, after a long search for the best possible deal on the best possible boot. I needed them for two reasons: my old ThirtyTwo TM-2s didn’t really fit my new bindings very well, and also they were starting to smell kind of funky.
I primarily considered Burton snowboard boots, because I have Burton Cartel bindings and I know their boots are designed to fit the bindings, and ThirtyTwo snowboard boots, because I have been riding with a pair of 2005 TM-2s for the last four years and despite their longer-than-average packing-in period, they have been phenomenal boots.
In the end, brand loyalty to ThirtyTwo won out. It helped that I found a deeply-discounted pair of the 2008/2009 TM-2s at a local skate shop; marked down from sticker of $249 to a closeout price of $149.I had them heat molded (I’ve never had this done before) so I’m hoping that they won’t be as hard to break in as my last pair.
Here they are strapped in to my bindings. I’ll be up at Crystal Mountain in northern Michigan this upcoming weekend, so I’ll have a review after that.
