Norway Mountain Will Not Open for 2012/2013

Norway Mountain Ski Resort, located in Norway, MI will not open for the 2012/2013 winter.

Citing 20 great years in business serving upper Michigan and Wisconsin, owners Mike & Mary Gotstein have decided not to re-open this winter. Details are sparse in their public announcement (reprinted below) and unfortunately for locals and those who frequent Norway Mountain, it does not seem like any buyers/investors have stepped up to take over, and so the resort will not operate this year.

I would like to thank every one who has made Norway Mountain such a pleasure to own an operate over the last twenty years. My wife and I truly enjoyed watching this ski hill become part of winter fun for residents of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. We could never have done it with out the support of a great staff, the city of Norway, Michigan, and our fantastic customers!

But all things change, and it was not without a lot of thought that we decided not to open this year. Our lives are taking a different direction and while we will miss all of the excitement and joy Norway Mountain has brought us over these great twenty years, it is time for us to move on. Thanks again to everyone who has made this one of the best experiences of our lives.
