Progression: Shred Goals for 2010 Season

I still don’t do a lot of park but I’m working on it because that’s all we’ve really got around here, and it gives me something to do and it’s a challenge. I got the Burton X8 to hone in my park riding. The NS Legacy is a great board, but not well-suited to the park.

I really love getting air. Moreso than rails, which kind of bore me, but I would like to learn some boardslides and maybe legit rails like skinny rails not boxes.

My primary goal this year is to really get some good spins on lock.  I did a lot of in-line skating when I was a kid and I could do 7s over a 10-stair pretty easily, but it’s different spinning a board. I want to really perfect my 3s and move on to 5s before the season ends.

In addition to really stomping 3s (and hopefully 5s) by the end of this season, another goal is to do maximal shredding when we hit Park City next month. I’m hoping the weather cooperates, last time I was there it rained on us.

We arrive Monday about lunch time, so we could still hit twilight riding at PCMR.  We are there until the following Monday, which means six full days are possible. I think my goal is to try and ride six straight days. If we do the Monday twilight session, that would be seven consecutive shred days.

Sound ambitious?  I think for someone pushing 30, who struggles to find the time & finances to get 25 days on the slopes each winter, these are pretty ambitious goals, but here they are out in the open and so I’ll be accountable for them.

Solid 360s, (540s if possible), board-slides and rails, and six or seven straight days of shredding gnar in Park City. Those are my goals. I’ll grade myself at the end of the season.
