Since the last update I made some progress skateboarding, although I haven’t learned anything new and my progress has kind of hit a plateau recently; it’s been humid and hot (mid-90′s F, mid-30′s C) that even when I do get out to skate, fatigue sets in quickly no matter how much water I drink.
Right now I don’t have much problem putting together a line of 5 or 6 ollies: ollie, land, push, repeat. But height and distance are still not very good. The distance should come with speed, which I’m still not very comfortable with. I’ve stopped trying to ollie over obstacles, or even step-up on to curbs, even though I could do both fairly consistently if the obstacle/curb was small. Instead, I’m just working on muscle memory and repetition, using the lines in the parking lot as “obstacles”.
The height is function of fluidity of motion, and my timing needs to be quicker and more effortless. Here is what I’m talking about. This one I figure was a decent 12-15″ ollie. The speed is really slow, but my form is OK. I notice I’m not sucking my knees up hard enough.
