Sleeping Giant Re-Opens to Snowboarders, Skiers

Note: I meant to publish this a few weeks ago, but it slipped through the cracks… for some reason, scheduling post publish times in advance isn’t working perfectly for me.

If you are one of the 14 people living near Cody, Wyoming, there’s good news for you: after a five-year hiatus, Sleeping Giant Ski Area reopened this past weekend. Lift tickets are $29 for adult, or $329 for season pass.

One of the oldest alpine areas in the U.S., Sleeping Giant is serviced by two chairlifts, a tow rope, and a carpet. Much of the terrain is intermediate to expert rated, so if you’re a novice, stay lower on the mountain. If you like to snowboard the glades, there are plenty of runs in that department judging by the trail map.

At only about 800 vertical feet, it can’t hold a candle to many other resorts in the vert department, but hell, if I had 800 vertical feet right out my back door at those prices, I’d be there every weekend. Believe it.
