So you want to be a snow carnie? Ditch out after your last semester at school and before you find yourself a “real” job, and spend a season working for minimum wages at a resort? Peet Rees gives you the lo-down via Whitelines including which jobs to really aim for. Like, you don’t really want to be a lift op. And you sure as sh!t don’t want to be the guy in charge of collecting, cleaning and deodorizing rental boots at the end of the day, either…
My friend Jay moved out to Cali, and worked in the cafeteria and also as a resort photog. Last I heard, he was living near north shore Lake Tahoe and fighting forest fires as a real job so I don’t know how much shred he gets, but he was still riding the 1995 K2 Hardcore (my very first snowboard) that I gave him in 2004.
B-Rad actually did a season in Austria after we graduated college. Yes, Brad, I’m calling you out. You need to write a post about that.
In hindsight, it would’ve been really cool to do something like that.
