Last week I previewed a summer rail jam in Birmingham, Michigan. The good folks at Snowboards.net have graciously provided me with some details and plans for the event, so here’s your officially unofficial presser:
Date: September 25, 2010. The registration begins at 11am, and the jam starts at noon.
Location: in the median between Woodward Avenue and Old Woodward, south of 555 Building in Birmingham, MI. Woodward Ave. has some of the highest traffic in the state.
Here’s the setup (click to enlarge) but we’re looking at about an urban setup, a simple 20′ down rail or down box on the opposite side. If you saw the video from last year’s event, this is waaay better!
The jam is sponsored by the O-Park and Otsego Ski Club. It will consist of a rail jam demonstration, with 2-3 sponsored skiers and 2-3 sponsored snowboarders. Following the demo there will be an amateur comp for approximately 50 riders. There is also a skate bowl for the kids to drop in.
The event will be promo’d by 101.1FM WRIF, and they will be doing a live remote from the event. Several local news channels have also expressed interested in the event.
Hope to see you all there!
